Preparing For the Kings Court

Lately I have been thinking a lot about prayer and How its functions in a child of God's life;

As you may be aware, there are many theories and preferences in prayer, literary everyone has there own preferences in prayer, but prayer should not be complex, we are the ones who make it complex, we do so out of our physical, spiritual and emotional weaknesses (Rom. 8:26).

Prayer traditionally has been understood as communication, and so it is supposed to be two way. On the other hand we must acknowledge that God is not only Our Father in Heaven but also the King of Kings, and with the special treatment and reverence we give to a king we also express the same or Greater to God who is The King. Now there are times prayer can be made spontaneous and that is especially when we are in danger and need a quick answer. for example, while peter was drowning, he did not have time to to pray like this; " Our father who at in heaven...da da da!" He quickly put out a cry " Lord Help!!!!" this is accepted prayer but can not be prayer for everyday.

Assume you go to your fathers room every morning to ask for your daily up-keep and all the time you put out a desperate cry everyday
I am sure you will be chastised. But the norm is that, you find yourself preparing for that moment with your father and looking at it in a more relational way.

Spurgeon preached, " In times of Peril and distress we may fly to God just as we are, as the dove enters the cleft of the rock, even though her plumes are ruffled; but in ordinary times we should not come with an unprepared spirit..."

He went on to explain, see yonder priest: he has a sacrifice to offer, but he does not rush into the courts of the priests and hack at the bullock with the first pole-axe upon which he can lay his hand, but when he rises he washes his feet at the brazen laver, he puts on his garment, and adorns himself with his priestly vestments; then he comes to the altar with his victim properly divided according to the Law, and is careful to do according to the command, and he takes the blood in a bowl and pours it in an appropriate place at the foot of the altar, not throwing it it just as may occur to him, and kindles the fire not with common flame, but with sacred fire from off the altar"

Like the priestly preparations for sacrifice so the Lord call us to come to Him boldly but also with our minds and spirit prepared for prayer, not giving God just anything but well thought of attention, not praying while calling on the phone, or eating or just busy with other factors but giving the King all the Honor and attention He deserves. May the Lord Honor you as you Honor Him in Prayer.
