Hypocricy
Lately I have been looking at the subject of hypocricy, well its not an easy subject to handle... if you ask me its one of those you periodicaly fall into and ask whether you can fully come out of it. Ok so whats the definition of Hypocricy?
Look at some of the following definitions;
1. A pretense of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that one does not really possess.
2. A pretense of having some desirable or publicly approved attitude.
well looking at the above definitions, we find that Hypocricy transcends the pretense that we carry in religion, yet as we will see, it is more prone in our day and time when we are talking of religious issues. Jesus in the Gospel of Luke talked about this subject;
Luke 12:1-3 Under these circumstances, after so many thousands of the multitude had gathered together that they were stepping on one another. He began saying to His disciples first of all,"Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
looking at Jesus admonition we see two main things about the danger of hypocricy; (1) Considering He spoke primarily to the Disciples, it tells us how being the so called religious are more prone to the temptation to be plastic and put on masks, this is quite dangerous because it is easily going to spread to the entire body of those who watch us in life. (2) Talking of yeast which is used metophoricaly for Hypocricy, you see the cahracter of Hypocricy. Yeast generaly does three things, a) It spreads on the Dough nomatter how little it is b) It leavens and puffs up the batch, c) it soures the whole mix.
These characteristics of Yeast make us understand what a hypocrite ends up to be; and these are the things we are in danger of;
A) Hypocricy makes one dangerous to the whole christian body, coz he who posseses it has a tendency to influence others
B) Hypocricy makes one puffed up with pride, and you know well (pride preceeds a fall)
C) Hypocricy makes one sour, this in spiritual issues is simply to make you lose the genuine influnce of a life lived in integrity to a life of manipulation which when found out destroys the object and the subjects.
So whats the way foward, As we pray we should be watchfull as Christ said and secondly, we should seek to be Men and Women of Integrity.
